Do your smoke alarms meet the new legal requirements?
New legislation is coming regarding smoke detectors and heat detectors in every home in Scotland.
This new law comes in February 2021 and as this is the law, it could affect home insurance in the event of a fire if you don’t have this done. To comply, your alarm system must meet the following criteria:
All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked.
Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance such as boilers, fires (including open fires) and heaters or a flue, a carbon monoxide detector is also required which does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.
